Cannabis in medically controlled and standardized quality
In the Netherlands the company Bedrocan B.V. offers three different varieties of standardized hemp flowers with THC (up to 18%) and CBD (up to 7%). The production and quality is monitored by the Cannabis Bureau specifically set up by the Health Ministry for the purpose of quality control. The dutch Cannabis Bureau is the only legal purchaser and distributor of Bedrocan products.
Use only standardized medicinal hemp flowers (cannabis flos) that have been tested for authenticity, purity, and pathogens according to the directives of the European Pharmacopoeia (or comparable guidelines) and are sold in pharmacies.
A considerable number of patients report, that they experience the best results with the inhalative application of hemp flowers (cannabis flos).
In Germany, the BfArM (Federal Institue for Drugs and Medical Devices) acts as the responsible authority to accomodate medical necessity by issuing special authorization to receive medical hemp flowers after the evaluation of the individual patient's requirements.
Do not use cannabis from the illegal black market. The same applies to products from the "coffee shops" as this cannabis is not subject to any recognized quality control.
The amount of active ingredients in these products is generally unknown, may fluctuate considerably, and they often contain herbicides, fertilizers, bacteria, etc.
Vaporization of plant material with
the VOLCANO MEDIC Vaporization System
Dried cannabis flowers – as the natural carrier of cannabinoids - are well suitable for vaporization. The cannabis resin which covers the surface of the inflorescences mainly contains the inactive THC acid (THCA) which will be transformed to the active ∆9-THC by decarboxylation. During vaporization decarboxylation occurs through the impact of heat - as it does when smoking, cooking or baking.
By grinding the dried flower in a Herb Mill a large surface is created and the hot air pumped through the ground material can easily initiate the vaporization of volatile ingredients at their respective temperature. Along with the desired cannabinoids, other latent ingredients e.g. water (residual moisture) and essential oils (terpenes), are vaporized. The remaining non-vaporizable ingredients, mainly plant fibres (cellulose) can be disposed after vaporization. Hemp flowers should be vaporized at 185°C - 210°C. Higher temperatures may lead to an unnecessary irritation of the respiratory tracts. A reproducible dosage is achieved by using standardized, ground flower material which, using the same quantity and the same temperature, is vaporized into a standardized valve balloon (approx. 12.5 l).
