Change of Intended Use for VOLCANO MEDIC 2 and MIGHTY+ MEDIC
[Tuttlingen, Germany, December 18, 2025] – STORZ & BICKEL GmbH, an internationally leading manufacturer of certified medical vaporizers, is expanding the intended use of its devices VOLCANO MEDIC 2 and MIGHTY+ MEDIC, marketed under the brand “VAPORMED” (https://www.vapormed.com/).
Until now, these devices were exclusively intended for the vaporization of dronabinol (THC) in alcohol solutions as well as cannabinoids derived from hemp flowers (Cannabis flos). With the updated intended use, it is now also possible to vaporize derivatives from hemp flowers in liquid or resinous form, taking into account the appropriate preparation. The vaporization produces an inhalable aerosol. This expansion broadens the range of applications for STORZ & BICKEL devices, giving patients greater flexibility to safely and properly inhale various cannabis preparations for medical purposes.
Special considerations apply when handling liquid and resinous cannabis derivatives. Liquid products prepared with solvents must be used according to the manufacturer’s instructions. Products dissolved in ethanol should have the solvent fully evaporated before inhalation to avoid alcohol intake. Plant extracts without additives are particularly recommended. Patients can use the STORZ & BICKEL dosing capsules with filling pads for administration. The filling pad can be dosed drop by drop with derivatives, which must be prepared according to their respective viscosities.
