CANNABINOIDS

Cannabinoids are substances, that are exclusively found in the hemp plant - Cannabis Sativa resp. Cannabis Indica. Currently, about 120 different cannabinoids are known, although at the current level of knowledge primarily the ∆9-THC (Delta 9 - Tetrahydrocannabinol; international non-proprietary name: dronabinol) and – less important – the non-psychoactive CBD (Cannabidiol) are used for medical purposes. In Germany, dronabinol (THC) and medicinal hemp flowers (cannabis and derivatives) are marketable and prescribable in accordance with the BtmG (Betäubungsmittelgesetz, German Narcotic Drugs Act).

One of the safest medications

A lethal dose in humans is unknown, therefore cannabis and cannabinoids are considered to be among the safest remedies available. Nevertheless cannabis and cannabinoids cannot be considered as harmless as – depending on dosage – they may be inebriant resp. possibly addictive. The possible addictive effect must be taken into account and a risk-benefit analysis is reasonable (similar to other medications).

Legal situation in your area

At a certain dosage, dronabinol (THC) and cannabis can have a psychotropic (mind-altering) effect. There is thus a potential for abuse, which governments in nearly all countries of the world counteract with corresponding laws. Only use medicinal cannabis (hemp flowers and derivatives) that has been prescribed by a doctor and obtained from a pharmacy. Failure to do so may result in legal consequences. Otherwise you may be at risk of breaking the law.
